Crime stastistics

Crime Stastistics, United Kingdom.

I was raised, and brought up,in a very pleasant area of North London, during the swinging sixties.
I must say, that even in those days, you certainly needed to be streetwise, and sensible.

However,I was very fortunate to have had,a very good up-bringing,all-be it very strict, and diciplined.
I can remember clearly, the odd schoolboy fights in the play-ground,and later on,in my teenage years,
the punch-up's at the local dance-hall.

Many of the disagreements resulted in shaking hands soon after, and more often then not,you
probably would have gained another friend.

In 2008,I am appalled at the level of serious crime statistics across the United Kingdom, involving
young people, and the continuing knife culture, which would appear to be on the increase.

Young peoples lives are cut short,by what can only be discribed as total disregard for the Law,
often as a result of drug use,and excessive achohol.

Many of the U.K.'s Town centres are simply no go area's,specifically during the evenings, and certainly
when the Pup's,and clubs turn out.

In general, respect for the police is non-existent,and further more, the punishment for offenders is
an easy touch.

Prison becomes an easy option, with the opportunity to have access to the internet, recreational
games,digital television,and three meals a day,and possibly,the chance to study for a degree.
It is also an academy to learn how to commit further sufisticated crimes.

In the United Kingdom,a two year sentence is reduced by around a third for good behaviour.

I believe two years should mean two years, and live should mean life.

Punishment for serious crime should be harsh, and effective, and whilst we continue to dole out
soft sentences,I sadly see no improvement to make our streets a safer place.
