Gambling The United Kingdom Gambling Mentality. I was recently reading an article in the british press,which certainly highlighted the unbelievable mind-set of a seasoned gambler,who has recently sued a well known betting shop chain. The individual concerned,a professional greyhound trainer,lost in the region of £3,000,000. In his wisdom,he decided that the bookmakers were at fault,for allowing him to continue his losing betting run to the staggering sum mentioned above. Needless to say,Gambling is a very dangerous pastime,and the consequences can destroy ones life,not to mention ones self esteem. True,one might conclude that gambling is an illness,but let's be clear about one thing. The majority of the population regard gambling as a fun pastime,and in most cases,no real harm is done. However,in the case that I have highlighted,I see no justification in placing the blame on the Bookmakers. We should take full responsibility for our own actions. Phil Davies United Kingdom.
